Some of the activities coming up are in June, so you still have time to plan your trip. There’ll be the celebration at Cass, marking their 50th year, taking place the weekend of June 15th! Check it out at: http://www.cassrailroad.com/dinner.html
There’s a driving trail, Pattern’s From The Past, that marks WV’s 150th Birthday and the Civil war. These quilt patterns are displayed on the many barns around the county and they are very interesting in history and in beauty. The brochures for taking the self-guided tour will be available on June 15th, and I’ll be placing them in the cabins for your enjoyment.
Green Bank Observatory will be hosting another Space Race Rumpus on the weekend of June 14th. It’s a unique biking festival that you may want to check out at: http://www.gb.nrao.edu/rumpus/ . This is a very interesting place to tour even when there’s no activity taking place. Learn why we have no cell service in the area. It’s fascinating and informative!
Don’t Miss Our Own Little Levels Heritage Fair in Hillsboro, the weekend of June 28-30th. The theme this year is “Defenders of the Home Front” See details at: http://www.littlelevelsheritagefair.com/ Stay at River’s Edge and ENJOY IT ALL!!

You may have missed the Maple Festival taking place all around us, but don’t miss what’s coming up throughout the summer. THE GREAT GREENBRIER RIVER RACE takes place on Sat. April 27th, 2013. Participants can do a solo race or team up with your friends to run, boat, & bike the race, which takes place in Marlinton. Book your stay on the river at Jeff’s Place or The Guest Quarters and enjoy the weekend in it’s entirety. It’s also a good day just to observe the fun, if, participating isn’t your thing. There’s great live music and just the site of ALL THE BOATS going down river is a spectacle in itself!! Be on the lookout for happenings throughout the summer and fall and remember that staying on the river is the best start to your plans! Hope to see you this summer!

There’s always good music to enjoy at either the Opera House in Marlinton, Carneige Hall in Lewisburg, or at a favorite in Hillsboro, The Pretty Penny.
